Over at Jingle Belles Rock blog site they do a weekly Christmas card Challenge! this week is to make a Christmas Card without using designer paper!!! It's a CARDSTOCK CHRISTMAS!!!
These are my cards for this Challenge! I drew inspiration from Splitcoaststampers Weekly Inkling #258 for a really cool side step card! It's really easy and quick! I can also see it with sand but that's another card. Since each card starts out at 5 1/2 x 81/2 you get two from one sheet of cardstock!! I then used my cuttlebug and embossed white cardstock with the Winter Village folder and 2 different snowflake folders.
It's hard to tell in these pictures but I cut the Winter village down to be the big step on the left side of one card and for the other I used it as the last step on the right for depth of field...
The snow flake folders were hand cut with my decorator scissors to mimic snow drifts. I used some stickers from my stash for Christmas Joy and found some rub ons clear in the bottom of my stash for the share Joy! Both images were colored by mom, who is 99 and still coloring strong!!! I used glitter everywhere on the Christmas Joy Card for Lauren at Jingle Belles and sparkly ribbon for me.On the Share Joy card I used stick on bling that I won from over at Betty Bee's BuzzHope you like them they were fun to do and really easy! Check it out!! and give it a try!!!
check out over at Jingle Belles Rock and see what the other papercrafters came up with sans designer paper!!! should be lots of great ideas!!!
Let me know if you have any ideas to make my photos better. I've tried editing them on Picnik but still not happy with the results.... what am I doing wrong!?! The cards are so much better in person!!!
What a super-fun design for a holiday card ... so perfect for the recipient to sit on a table or mantle to enjoy ... love the glittery sparkle ... thanks so much for joining our jingle belles fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat card!
ReplyDeleteThis is totally cool and unique!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun cards! Love the sparkle! Thanks for playing along with my no patterned paper challenge at Jingle Belles!
ReplyDeleteCute side-step cards, Judy. Cards are always so much prettier IRL; your glitter does show up well; but it is difficult to photograph shine.
ReplyDeleteoh WOW!!! miss judy, i'm ♥LOVING♥ that cool "sidestep" format...how brilliant and dynamic that is! and it's PERFECT for this prompt, as well, b/c the "snowy" embossed cardstock, a sentiment, and ONE bold stamp is really just the right amount to make it all come together! well done, you! ♥♥♥ (& thanks for my "glitter fix" too!)
ReplyDeleteps: i don't think you're doing ANYTHING wrong... but it looks like you're in a spot with a big contrast of bright light and shadow, which makes it hard for the camera to "read" the whole card. if you can find a place in the house where you can CONTROL the light so it's even all over, it will help! (of course i say this like i'm good at pictures and they are totally my weakest link!!!) :)
Very cute cards! I love the snowman one! :)
ReplyDeleteFun design. LOTS of sparkle! :) How cool that Mom is still coloring. YAY, MOM!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is your easel christmas card
ReplyDeleteGreat job on both cards, I love them! Love all the sparkle!
ReplyDeleteI like to try and photo my cards outside in the sun as much as possible. However, since I live in Alaska and have many months of darkness finding a spot in the house with a lot of light to work with is the next best thing.
super cute cards! I love the "joy"!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are wonderful and so is that coloring job. Kudos to mom!
ReplyDeleteAwww! This is so cute! Love the "snow" effect you got with the glitter:) I have found that the only pics that turn out well for me if I get a good amount of natural light in the room when taking photos. I also turn off the flash and use a close-up camera setting. Hope that helps! :)
